A FREE SOCIETY OF THE SCOURGE OF GENDER BASE VIOLENCE [GBV] CASE NUMBER: 134/01/2023 NELSPRUIT DISTRICT MAGISTRATE COURT, MPUMALANGA PROVINCE

1. There should be individual and collective efforts to free society from the scourge of gender-based violence in our midst.
2. As a human rights lawyer, I can truly state, without any fear of contradiction, that South Africa’s criminal justice system is still lacking effectiveness in putting gender-based violence under the discipline of the rule of law.
3. When the victim of gender-based violence (GBV) becomes further victimized by unnecessary and prolonged investigations, there is a deep-seated problem.
4. The lack of financial and legal support services for victims of gender-based violence (GBV) during criminal proceedings demonstrates further loopholes in the criminal justice chain.
5. Donations towards this cause would not only help the victim but also serve as a steady motive towards freeing South Africa from the scourge of gender-based violence.
6. The graphic photos of the victim’s bodily injuries are scary and traumatic to witness.
